How to make chilli Potato| Chili Potato recipe
Chilli Potato is a popular Indo-Chinese appetizer dish made with crispy fried potatoes, bell peppers, and a spicy, tangy sauce. Here's a recipe for making Chilli Potato at home:
Ingredients:
- 4-5 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and cut into thin strips
- 1/2 cup cornflour
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped ginger
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
- 1 medium-sized bell pepper, cut into thin strips
- 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon cornflour slurry (1 tablespoon cornflour mixed with 2 tablespoons water)
- Chopped spring onion greens for garnishing
Instructions:
- Peel and cut the potatoes into thin strips. Rinse them in cold water and pat dry with a kitchen towel.
- In a mixing bowl, add cornflour, salt, and a little water to make a thick batter.
- Dip the potato strips into the batter, making sure they are coated well.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the potato strips in small batches and fry until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fried potato strips with a slotted spoon and drain on a kitchen towel.
- In a separate pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add chopped garlic, ginger, and green chilies, and sauté for a few seconds.
- Add chopped onions and bell peppers and sauté until the vegetables are slightly soft.
- Add tomato ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, red chili powder, sugar, salt, and water. Mix well and let it cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Add the cornflour slurry to thicken the sauce. Mix well and let it cook for another minute.
- Add the fried potato strips to the sauce and mix well until they are coated evenly with the sauce.
- Garnish with chopped spring onion greens and serve hot.
